Week Four:

We have officially decided that our first filming day will be tomorrow! I can not wait to meet up again with my fabulous group. I am stoked to share all the great ideas that were said to me by my classmates on how to go about this project. A couple of things that I was told was that in starting off my film opening, in which was something I feel that we struggled in the most, was that we should show how these girls that are being sex trafficked are being lured in. I thought this was really cool and another way to look at it just because it does make sense in going that route as well. Something else that was said that really caught my attention was showing the five stages: denial, anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance which would go in sync with the percent of phone and/or girls kidnapped. I really like this idea a lot because I had not heard about that and is different and I think could come out really interesting.

Week Four:

What's going to go down... so far
So I know I have not explained much what exactly is going to go down in my film opening, I have yet to fill everyone in just because I wanted it to be a bit of surprise and hold it off but I can not do that. So here it goes, this is the whole enchilada: As you all know, our film opening which is called '1 Percent', will be based on sex trafficking. Our main character will be shown being taken into where the whole process is happening. She is being taken into a location in which the sex trafficking occurs. A bunch of victims will be shown in a poor state (physically and mentally). The main character will refer back to her phone in which she was able to have with her but starts off with having 5% battery on her phone. As it progresses, the battery percentage lowers. Other girls of all ages and races will be shown in the process of being sold online and how their pictures are being taken and a bit of what they are put through. Very few to little dialogue will be used. The film opening will then end when the main characters phone then reaches to 1% on her phone.
The color scheme of this film will be gray and dark dull colors since this is a depressing topic. A strike of blue will be hinting throughout this film opening in which my group and I had learned that the color blue is for the awareness of human trafficking and so the blue would stand out in all the gray in dullness. As well as for dropping hints, the main characters phone will be set to date to January 11, in which we had also learned that it is the national awareness day of human trafficking.
That is basically all the tea! We are really excited to film this and get it going!

Week Four:
I am so excited to announce that today went absolutely amazing! My classmates and I were all instructed to separate into different groups to get together and to give pointers to one another. I was so beyond anxious as we went counterclockwise to share our storyboards and our ideas on what all of us have planned to produce. Finally after giving feedback to my peers, it turned out to be my turn to share (my shy self went last of course).  I got amazing ideas bouncing off the walls from my classmates which excites me a whole lot. One of my classmates in the group that I was in had suggested a beginning for my film opening which I was struggling in which I could definitely take that route.
I took a lot of notes as to what they were telling me so I can run back and share those ideas with my group. I can not wait to see the final outcome of this project, I have been told by many that they do like the topic and the route my group and I are going in.  There are so many ideas and I feel real good about it.
Week Four:
Further research on sex trafficking- What is human sex trafficking?   Sex traffickers use threats, manipulation, lies, debt bondage, and other forms of coercion to compel adults and children to engage in commercial sex acts against their will. There's multiple ways in how to stop/prevent human trafficking such as holding an event to raise awareness, starting a club/community group, lobby local policymakers, etc.  The common age a child enters sex trafficking is 14-16 meaning they are too young and too naive to realize what is happening. Victims suffer from long lasting physical and psychological trauma, disease (HIV/AIDS), drug addiction, malnutrition, and social ostracism
Statistics:

  • Image result for human sex trafficking facts
  • There is an estimated 21 million people in forced or coerced human trafficking world wide
  • of those 21 million people, 68% of them are subjected to forced labor while 22% are subjected to forced sexual exploitation and the remaining 10% are in forms of state-imposed forced labor
  • In those sex trafficked, 75% are women and girls and then 25% are children

Week Three:

The days to me are going by faster and faster, the due date to me seems to near! We have done loads of research on the genre, and on what our story line. We have officially came up with a title in which I don't want to spoil but can't keep within myself any longer! The title of our film is... 1 Percent. The whole idea of '1 Percent' is the one percent the main character female in our film is going to have as she faces a very serious issue in which truly draws in the suspense and makes it a thriller.
